Today's Siddha Chocolate Clean Cacao 70% Cacao + Vitamin D3 was from Siddha Remedies (Oxnard, CA). The company offers flower essences and remedies "to elevate your nature" including a line of chocolates with different botanical inclusions.

This chocolate, made with organic cacao, had a naturally sweet (slightly floral) and cocoa (light chocolate cookie) fragrance.

Smooth dark chocolate flavor was accented with a very slight dose of coconut sugar, vanilla salt (pink salt), and very faint floral (12 flower essences) and citrus (lemon peel) touches. I also experienced barely there chocolate malt and diffuse red fruit notes.

Additional sweetness in this keto-friendly, vegan chocolate was provided by erythritol and yacon. 

Overall this genteel, floral chocolate offers something for most health-conscious chocolate lovers, particularly those enamored with all flowers and all things botanical.

Today's Chocolate Banana bar was manufactured for NuGo Nutrition (Oakmont, PA). "NuGo" is short for "Nutrition To Go."

This chocolate-drizzled banana nutrition bar had a crispy, chewy texture (think crisped rice bar meets protein bar), and contained 15 grams of protein (from soy protein isolate). The bar also had added vitamins and minerals, and a faint somewhat artificial flavor. (It was hard to tell if this was a product of the soy protein, the vitamins and/or the banana flavor.)

The NuGo Chocolate Banana bar was labeled as Gluten Free and Non-GMO (they don't source ingredients with GM ingredients).

Today's Veggimin Dark Chocolate Hearts with CBD were from Windy City Organics, LLC (Glenview, IL).

This coconut-sugar sweetened, tiny, dark chocolate heart Veggimin sounded like it might be a vitamin, but contained no significant amounts of vitamins or minerals (at least in the tiny heart-shaped piece (serving) we tried).

This chocolate did contain a small amount of CBD* from hemp oil. This is part of a trend of infusing chocolates with CBD, now that parts of the hemp plant are more available to chocolatiers and consumers.

To be clear, this heart did not contain any substance that will make you high. (We noticed no effects.)

It had the aroma and taste of a dark chocolate sweetened with coconut sugar.

*CBD (cannabidiol) and is not the same as THC (tetrahydrocannabinol)—the compound in marijuana that has psycho-active properties.

Welcome to Day #6 of Chocolate and Surprise Theme Week.

Vitamin D is nicknamed the sunshine vitamin because sun enables human bodies to produce this vitamin.* During cloudy winter days, one can also get Vitamin D from food or vitamins.

What about a Vitamin D supplement made of chocolate? Surprise! One exists.

Today's Vitamin D3 Supplement from Good Day Chocolate (Boulder, CO) materialized in the form of chocolate candy coated pieces (think super-sized M and M candies from Mars).

Each crunchy, naturally-colored red candy shell contained a dark chocolate center made with fair trade cacao. These almost had a slight dairy butter, yellow floral flavor to them; but this could have been my imagination. Yellow sunshine and fields of yellow flowers are a few months away.

*These chocolate candy dietary supplements contained 1,000 IUs per serving (1/2 package). It might take 15-20 minutes of California (winter) sunshine for a person to be able to make this much on their own.
