Welcome to Day #6 of Chocolate and Indiana Theme Week, part two. As if often the case, a stroll through a new city reveals many new chocolates. So, this is the second entry for today.

Walking almost eight miles on the beautiful Indianapolis Cultural Trail for bicyclists and pedestrians can make one thirsty. I stopped in to Hubbard and Cravens Coffee and Tea (Indianapolis, IN) for a pick me up.

With the aid of helpful counter staff, I found the perfect cold drink to go, a Healthy Elephant (espresso, cocoa, almond milk and ice). This cup of chilled magic was full of flavor without being too sweet.

The Healthy Elephant was very refreshing with the perfect amount of chocolate and coffee zing to propel me through the downtown Indianapolis City Market and First Friday art stops that evening.

*Coffee personally sourced from Central America by Cravens family members.

Note: Photos will magically appear after I return from travel and have access to a computer again.

The Best Chocolate in Town - Almond Butter Date - April 7, 2017 (part 1)

Chocolate(s) of the Day:

The Best Chocolate in Town

Cabernet Balsamic - Good
Almond Butter Date - Good ++ - Very Good
Vegan Pistachio Cherry - Good

Welcome to Day #6 of Chocolate and Indiana Theme Week, where I wandered around Indianapolis, IN, sampling more local chocolates. (See post number two for today for a bonus chocolate.)

One of the local Indiana chocolate vendors you'll see at this week's Indianapolis Chocolate Fest is The Best Chocolate in Town (Indianapolis, CA).

A friend (thank you Toni!) had brought back chocolates from this company to share after a trip she took a few years ago. So I knew I'd visit The Best Chocolate in Town during this week's Indianapolis trip.

I bought four chocolates in their shop on upper Massachusetts Avenue (aka Mass Ave if you're a local), and sampled three today.

Of the Cabernet Balsamic, Almond Butter Date and Vegan Pistachio Cherry chocolates, the Almond Butter Date was the hands-down favorite.

Biting into this chocolate yielded a burst concentrated date and nutty flavor and texture. A moist chewy date was stuffed with almond butter and enveloped in chocolate. It was full of rich natural sweetness, without being too sugary.

Welcome to Day #5 of Chocolate and Indiana Theme Week. It's always best to evaluate chocolates for a specific state in person. So, Chocolate Banquet traveled to Indiana.

My first stop in downtown Indianapolis, IN today was the South Bend Chocolate Cafe--part of South Bend Chocolate Company (South Bend, Indiana)--located in the center of downtown, just south of the Soldiers' and Sailors' Monument. It just happen to be where a cab driver dropped me off.

There were many chocolates to choose from. I chose two pieces to feature today: a Hoosier and a Rockne chocolate.

The Hoosier chocolate piece was chock full of nuts/peanuts. And the Rockne was a roundish mass of milk chocolate embedded with finely shredded coconut and a slight cherry flavor.

Note: Photos will be added to this post after trip.
