I was reading poetry quotes as I sampled this Chocolove (Boulder, CO) "Strong Dark Chocolate" (70% Cocoa Content) bar. I was trying to select a few pretty words to pair with today's bar.
Made from Belgian chocolate, this bar had a strong snap to it. I wondered if I should find a poem from a Belgian poet, or a strong poet?
I stumbled on this poem, from Chilean poet, Pablo Neruda:
"I love you as certain dark things are to be loved,
In secret, between the shadow and the soul."

It sounded almost wrong to ascribe this poem to one's desire to eat chocolate. But, if the poem fits...
Ultimately, I decided to go with part of the William Shakespeare verse from "Venus and Adonis" that was printed on this inside of this Chocolove bar wrapper. (All Chocolove bars I've seen come with a poem inside.) This selection from Shakespeare read in part:
"...'Ay me,' quoth Venus, 'young, and so unkind?
What bare excuses mak'st thou to be gone;
I'll sigh celestial breath, whose gentle wind
