Welcome to  Day #2 of Chocolate Brownie Theme Week.

It was another brownie for breakfast morning. This gluten free Gooey Brownie from the Tin Pot Creamery (Palo Alto, CA) managed to be perfectly firm on the outside and rich and gooey (as advertised) on the inside.

This brownie also kept well in the refrigerator, although nothing beats a fresh, right-out-of-the-oven brownie.

If you're local (to the SF Bay Area), I also recommend Tin Pot's gluten free Chocolate Walnut Cookie—which had a moist brownie quality to it.

Welcome to Day #2 of Chocolate Cookie Theme Week.

What a great gluten-free chocolate cookie I had today.

It was made by the Tin Pot Creamery (Palo Alto, CA), a local 2-shop enterprise (with Palo Alto and Los Altos locations) that is better known as a scoop shop with high-quality ice creams and sorbets.

This individually-wrapped, rich, dark chocolate cookie with embedded pieces of walnut, had almost brownie-like richness. It was substantial, moist, very slightly chewy, and hung together well without being crumbly.

The Tin Pot Creamery is a relatively new ice cream scoop shop that opened in my neighborhood this summer (June 2013). I sauntered in this afternoon to try some of their specialty, house-made flavors. And, because today was Day #6 of Chocolate and Banana Theme Week, I decided to order up something rich, decadent and calorific: a banana split with three custom ice cream flavors.

The Tin Pot Creamery's banana split was priced at $8.50, but because I wanted to swap out the standard chocolate, vanilla and strawberry shortcake flavors -- for roasted banana fudge ripple, toasted coconut and vegan peanut butter ice creams -- this split cost $9.25. Was it worth it? I think so.

The three sauces (berry compote, salted caramel and chocolate) were good in small amounts, and the whipped cream and nuts tasted fresh. The ice cream flavors were rich, creamy and authentic. The fresh banana, sliced into quarters, arranged carefully, and flame caramelized or "bruleed" in the bowl, was a nice touch as well.
