ChocolateBet: February 5, 2008

Chocolate of the Day:

1/2 serving
Williams-Sonoma
The Original Peppermint Hot Chocolate - Bittersweet Chocolate Shavings Infused with Peppermint Oil
Very Good
Weight: ~ 20 grams (2 1/2 Tbs.) for 1/2 serving. Total container = 14.5 oz. (410 g.)
Calories: from cocoa/choc shavings = 105 + large glass milk = 350 calories
Cost: $19.50 for a large tin
Purchased from: Williams-Sonoma, San Francisco, CA

I bought this hot chocolate a few months ago in a Williams-Sonoma store in San Francisco. It was a cold evening and the holiday decorations were out, and it was a great time to buy hot chocolate. I'm enjoying it a lot this evening too. All that was lacking was a fire in the fireplace.

ChocolateBet: August 20, 2007

Chocolate of the Day:

1 bite
Lake Champlain Chocolates
Dark Chocolate with Peppermint Crunch
Good +
Weight: .4 oz. / 3 oz. (85 grams) total
Calories: 70 calories (estimate)
Cost for bar: $2.79 (could also be $2.29; label is hard to read)
Purchased at: Elephant Pharmacy, in Los Altos, CA

Unfortunately, this Dark Chocolate with Peppermint Crunch bar appears to have gotten melted somewhere (in transit or in store).

Note: In the summer, storage matters with chocolate. I've been told that cocao butter melts at body temperature, so it doesn't take much time in a hot car or in front of a window on a hot day to do some damage. (The lighter colored cocoa butter separates from the darker colored cocoa solids causing a blotchy appearance.)
